Intro and Thanksgiving Weekend

As he was looking at a friend's blog update, Scott asked me why we didn't have a blog, so I told him I was making one and this is it. I have no clue how to do this, but I guess I'll learn along the way. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
We are living in Seattle and Scott is just about to finish his first semester of grad school. I'm so proud of him, he is acing his classes, getting promotions at work, and taking the time to be an awesome, thoughtful husband. No clue how he does it all.
This blog is most likely going to end up being largely about food and travel, our two favorite things.
I have loved cooking and meal planning recently and feel as though it is my "hobby". Now I just need to get good at it so that I don't feel like my "hobby" is just a part of being a wife.

Thanksgiving weekend was a blast. Scott surprised me with a hotel reservation in Portland a few days before Thanksgiving, and after some talking and searching hotels online, we switched it to a reservation on the Oregon coast (where we went for our anniversary last year). Our friends from our ward here invited us to spend Thanksgiving with them and their family in Aberdeen, so Thursday morning, we got on the road and got to spend the day with them. We had a wonderful time and a delicious Thanksgiving dinner! We spent the night there, then the next day took off for the Oregon Coast. The weather was awful, and we had expected to drive along the coast, taking our time, stopping to look around on the way, but we just drove straight there because of the weather. We stopped in Astoria for lunch and went to get checked in to our hotel in Seaside. Our room was tiny! Not much larger than the queen size bed in it, but it was just fine for us since we weren't planning on spending much time in the room. We went to a couple stores on Black Friday and decided to get a new digital camera, and we love it, we took about 100 pictures in the next two days because we wanted to play with it.
We ate dinner at Mo's and vowed to never eat there again after feeling sick from the heavy food. The next day we went back to Astoria to explore.

We went to a national park where we saw what was left of an old ship.

We spent some time taking pictures and enjoying the nicer weather at Canon Beach

In Astoria we went up to a column

Walked up the 164 steps to the top and asked some teenager to take our picture

And played with our camera some more :)

We had a delicious early dinner at "Baked Alaska" where we saw a seal and had a beautiful view of the river, here are the remnants of my clam linguini

We then started our drive to Stuart and Jenny's which Scott said was in Portland, so we drove through the city since we were running early and took a shot or two of the skyline
Then took another hour to get to where we were going :) We went to Voodoo Doughnuts with Stuart and Jenny and watched a sad movie. Then in the morning made our way back to See-attle-tattle (what Scott always calls Seattle when he's not around other people).

It was a wonderful weekend, and so nice to have four whole days to spend with Scott. No work, no school, no homework, no computers, no cleaning...just enjoying our time together.
